My career goals include another two years as an assistant principal, ten years as a principal, four years as an assistant superintendent, and I will end my career in my most coveted position of all, superintendent. In addition to this, I would like to teach at the university level to serve as a mentor to the next generation of educators. My goal at each level is to work with a well-qualified team of individuals who have one goal in common: to ensure that every student reaches his or her full potential. I have been able to accomplish this goal as a teacher and as an administrator. Moving through each position in education will help me meet my career goals by assisting me to strengthen my abilities of becoming a visionary, instructional leader, effective communicator, good manager, good listener, and risk taker. I will continue to develop these skills as an administrator, but a strong professional background will help me to develop the knowledge and expertise needed to be an effective executive officer of the school district. Who would want a superintendent that was not knowledgeable about education, regulations, rules, policies, or laws? The best way to learn about each of these areas is to gain experience in several educational positions. In order to build a successful school district, I must obtain the proper tools: a perfect combination of skills, experience, and education, and I feel that actively participating at each level that lies between being a teacher and a superintendent position which will help me develop these tools in the most efficient and effective way.
